Hercules (2014)

HERCULES has two things going for him: the undeniable charisma of Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson (not to mention the former pro wrestler’s awesome physique) and an interesting slant to the tale that blurs the line between myth and reality. Neither one has the strength to reinvigorate the exhausted tropes deployed here for the umpteenth time, nor to overcome a central backstory blunder. This hero may stand head and shoulders above the year’s earlier Legend of Hercules, but considering that movie’s midget might, that’s not saying much. –YSM

About Your Sacrificial Moviegoer

We love to sit in the dark with a big tub of popcorn amid a roomful of strangers. Reports on what we witness there come in two varieties: Bullet Reviews quickly and concisely convey our take on a film, always in spoiler-free fashion; Trailer Trash reveals Your Sacrificial Moviegoer's best prediction on whether an upcoming movie is worth seeing, based solely on the trailer (the short "previews" before the feature presentation).
