The Imitation Game

An elegant screenplay and terrific performances, led by Benedict Cumberbatch, make THE IMITATION GAME by far the most moving version of code-breaking genius Alan Turing’s life. This biopic feels nothing like one, avoiding the usual pitfalls of the genre by organizing itself around the the impossible task faced by Turing and his team (Keira Knightley, Matthew Goode, Downton Abbey‘s Allen Leech)–cracking Nazi Germany’s Enigma code–while skillfully keeping the stakes of WWII foremost in everyone’s mind. For those who don’t know Turing’s tale, and especially for those of us who do, one couldn’t ask for a more Oscar-worthy telling. –YSM

Couldn’t agree more! I’d heard the screenplay was great, and Cumberbatch ‘s performance spectacular, and I wasn’t disappointed.
